Would you like to make beautiful furniture and other objects out of wood? Are you an English speaker who would like to learn the basics of woodworking in Budapest?
This 40-hour intensive, small group, hands-on course is designed for those who want to learn the basics of woodworking (furniture making). The course is ideal for beginners, DIY enthusiasts and hobby woodworkers who want to learn the first steps of furniture making from a professional instructor in English.
Working in a well-equipped workshop, you will learn techniques that you can apply to your home projects or use as a foundation if you wish to continue your carpentry training in a more advanced course. (At Woodivity, you can rent a carpentry workshop equipped with tools where you can work on your own projects and get help from a professional if you need it).
Our 9-session course – thanks to the small group setting – is an efficient solution for busy, active professionals. The sessions allow you to create products that you can take home.
Course topics:
- Health and Safety and Fire Training.
- Introduction to hand tools – saws, chisels, measuring and marking tools, hand planes, clamps and vices etc.
- Frame joints.
- Toolbox construction (using a circular saw, making joints, cutting rabbets, gluing, drilling, sanding and finishing).
- Laminated chipboard small furniture – design, making a cutting list, using a biscuit joiner, gluing, fitting and adjusting hardware.
- Solid wood drawer table – main carpentry structures and joints using hand and power tools, planer, thicknesser and table saw, making joints, gluing techniques, sanding, using wood filler, finishing.
